TK Distance Learning Packet: Fall Week 1 - NO PREP PRINTABLES!

Will you be teaching remotely this year?  This is a printable Distance Learning packet for TK, WEEK ONE! In this file, you will find all of the work for one week of school, for Transitional Kindergarten for both Math and Language Arts subjects. We've included a variety of worksheets and activities, so feel free to use any or all of it with your students!

Learning to write names is a huge part of the first month of school, so there are two different EDITABLE NAME worksheets included to make it easier for you to send families an example of how children’s names should be written. We have also included practice with tracing, prewriting strokes, and scissor practice, and art projects for parents (or the teacher) to print out and do.

This week focuses on: Alphabet overview, Numbers 0-10 overview, Basic shape overview, Let's Count! activity worksheet, Basic Concepts Fluency Charts: Large & Small, Plants & Clothes, Living & Non-Living, Clothes & Food, and Feelings, Two Pre-handwriting strokes worksheets, Tracing: Follow the arrow!

Hands on activities include: Two name writing practice worksheets that are both editable, Scissor practice worksheet, Self Portrait art project, Shape Schoolhouse art project,School Bus art project, Count & Match - cut and glue worksheet, Secret Name Surprise - watercolor activity, Pattern blocks guided exploration activity, Number sort and match activity

Directions & some templates for art projects are included, along with photos of each completed project. Please note that this packet is appropriate for TK, but can be used in Kindergarten depending on your class needs.

We've divided everything up by day of the week, (Monday-Friday) so you have the option of sending this entire packet to students, with everything labeled out on what to do each day! Permission is granted to distribute to families/students in your classroom.

In my experiences, children in TK generally need much more time to learn, and even more developmentally appropriate, hands-on activities than are necessary for most children in Kindergarten. Check out our HeidiSongs internet video site for more videos and songs to help kids learn their letters, shapes, numbers, and more, and follow along with the Monthly Kindergarten Pacing Guide collections if wanted. However, a subscription to our internet video streaming site is not included.

I highly recommend that buyers take a look at my Parent Guide Posters that explain how to teach a child to hold a pencil, use scissors, glue, glue stick, write names, etc. They are fully editable, so that you can change the language used to cue children with your own directions. These are NOT INCLUDED in this packet, because they would have driven the price up dramatically, and not everyone may want to use both those posters and these lesson plans. However, I will be sending them home with my students along with this packet.

Please follow my blog for tips on how to adapt these activities for use in the classroom. Each item in this packet is the very similar to the ones I would have done in the classroom. For example, I have included a printable alphabet sort, but in class, we do this with foam letters rather than paper ones. If you are interested in how to make your activities for home and school roughly the same, just follow the blog for more information. :)

- Heidi

P.S. Don't forget all our videos are available to STREAM on UScreen, FREE for the first 30 days!   It's an awesome way to bring some EASY, active learning to your students during this time, and they can always cancel right before they are ever charged, like on day 29!
