Mini Sight Word Songbooks!

Today, I’m going to tell you about our Mini Sight Word Songbooks.  You know, if you can sing it, you can read it. And kids LOVE taking home little books they can read to their parents. So what could be better than a little book that kids can read AND sing to their parents? I just don’t know!

My little TKs have been really enjoying these little Mini Sight Word Songbooks this year! And I must say, I REALLY enjoy watching their early literacy skills bloom as they start to recognize the sight words that we are learning via the sight word songs, and then try to track the words to the songs in print!  It’s soooo precious! Just watch this little one do her very best to “read” me her book!  I love it!

These little printable books have the words to our sight word songs in them, plus the movements in the form of stick figures!  (Should I confess that I drew those stick figures myself? LOL!)  I also really value the fact that each time the target word comes up, the kids have to trace it.  At the end of the book, they get to write the word from memory, rainbow write it, and then color it, too- depending on how many extra pages there are once all of the lyrics in the song are covered.

We have these little Mini Sight Word Song Books for every single song in every single Sight Word Streaming Video collection and DVD. Yes, we DO! So this info is for all of you that have not been following us since we introduced them about five years ago, or even for you that were and might have forgotten.  LOL!

Actually, I’ve kind of been wishing that we have the books in a larger format so that I could hold a teacher sized one and point at the words while the kids hold theirs and point.  What do you think?  To me, one of the best things about these little books is the chance for each child to practice tracking, but it’s pretty hard to get around to everyone at the table.  It would be easier to do it all together first, and then try to make sure I listen to each child every other week and check them off as I go.

I don’t have a video of The My Song, but here’s GO!
