Fall WEEK 5 - TK Distance Learning Packet! (NO PREP PRINTABLES!)

Here it is!!! My printable Distance Learning packet for TK, WEEK FIVE! In this file, you will find all of the work for one week of school, for TK, with some worksheets that will work for Kindergarten, for both Math and Language Arts subjects. There is a whole variety of worksheets, so you can pick and choose.

This week focuses on the letter C, number 3, and the sight word "see". There are four worksheets/activities for the letter C, along with fluency practice for letters A-E. We've also included a fun counting creatures worksheet for the number 3 and shape creatures worksheet for finding squares. Hands on activities include making fruit out of PlayDough, or coloring fruit in the provided worksheet, making the word "see" with stickers, an apple art project, and starting the Shape Book craft activity. This week we're starting the "My Shape Book" book craft to print out and do! It will be finished up in the week six packet. Directions for how to make this craft is included, along with photos of each completed project.

In my experiences, children in TK generally need much more time to learn, and even more developmentally appropriate, hands-on activities than are necessary for most children in Kindergarten. A list of recommended HeidiSongs music videos for the week is also included, and it links to our HeidiSongs internet video site. However, a subscription to our internet video streaming site is not included. You are welcome to eliminate this page as needed.

We've divided everything up by day of the week, (Monday-Friday) so you have the option of sending this entire packet to students, with everything labeled out on what to do each day! Permission is granted to distribute to families/students in your classroom. Also, don't forget about our editable Weekly Lesson Plan page that is new this week for those who may want to only include bits and pieces from our packet, or add in worksheets of their own.

You may notice several hands-on activities for math included with specific manipulatives mentioned. However, on each of these I have also stated on it that it is fine to substitute another type of toy or manipulative, such as Lego bricks, etc.

As I'm teaching remotely this year, I print out the packets and send them to families, divided by day of the week. (Isn't it hard to believe how LONG it takes to pack up everything kids may need for  two weeks???) Then I give directions for each activity via Zoom or Google Meets, sing with the children using the music videos referenced, and have the children do the activities right there while I “watch” online and wait for questions. Children that finish early can “go play” or read a book at home until we are ready to proceed with the next activity.  Of course, this packet would also work for families to just use them without video guidance from the teacher. It should work either way.

I am excited to try out the "Rhyming Words Smash Mat" included in the photo below!  In this case, kids are supposed to make balls of playdough.  Then, they say the pair of words.  If they rhyme, they get to smash a ball of playdough on it!  You can also do it by coloring them or dabbing them with a dot marker, as is shown below.
